SMOC and HY-IPT Establish Strategic Partnership to Advance Precision Medicine Research
Southern Model Organisms (SMOC) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Industry-University-Research Strategic Cooperation with the Hanyang Institute for Personalized Therapeutics of Hanyang University (HY-IPT). Leveraging their respective strengths in model organism R&D and research infrastructure, the two parties will advance in-depth cooperation in joint R&D, talent exchanges, and national-level research project collaboration. Together, they aim to build an industry-university-research collaborative system, nurture outstanding talent, and drive innovation and development in life science research.

At the signing ceremony, Professor Dong-Tak Jung of HY-IPT stated: "Reaching this strategic partnership with SMOC is of great significance to us. SMOC possesses formidable strength in genetically modified animal models and preclinical CRO services, which serves as a crucial foundation for HY-IPT to carry out and advance research in personalized therapy and translational medicine. We look forward to relying on SMOC’s high-quality laboratory animal resources and R&D platform, combined with HY-IPT's long-term accumulation and expertise in the life sciences, to jointly tackle multiple research projects and cultivate talent, and to build a long-term, stable, mutually beneficial and win-win cooperative relationship."

The signing of this MOU marks a further expansion of SMOC's international industry-university-research cooperation footprint. The two parties will continue to advance the deep integration of industry, university, and research, connecting the entire chain from basic research and technology development to industrial translation. Together, they will build a long-term collaborative innovation mechanism, empower frontier life-science exploration and innovative drug R&D, and help build an open and interconnected international biomedical innovation ecosystem.
